Comments about Phoenix Phoenix Upright Magnetic Bike:

Bike arrived with a bent metal piece and digital screen does not operate. Contacting the company was not easy and just decided not to bother with replacing broken parts since it still basically operates but still disappointed.

I just have one problem w/ it, and that's the tension levels. Level 1 is supposed to be easy and 2 harder and so on, but level 1 is so difficult and i can't make it easier, and I'm in very good shape, unless I am supposed to work it the opposite way? level being the most difficult and 8 the easiest?

Comments about Phoenix Phoenix Upright Magnetic Bike:

It was tricky to install and setup this bike, but after I finished - I enjoyed my first ride... Few days after I noticed that seat is not comfortable, and that will be my only problem with this bike. The problem is solved with 2inch foam, which I "installed" on the seat. This is the only issue which is important to me, the other one could be fast battery drain and display is like on old LCD watches, no back light.

Comments about Phoenix Phoenix Upright Magnetic Bike:

I just dont like the way this bike feels when its in use. it feels jerky at times and the frame is much to be desired. I bought it with the intent of cardio training, but it is not suited for it.

I would recommend this bike b/c its a cheap option for those who need range of motion exercises and those using it for physical therapy (not for athletes trying to return to performance condition) and for those who need to start a regimen with light cardiovascular work. Will not suffice for someone needing to increase their conditioning.

Comments about Phoenix Phoenix Upright Magnetic Bike:

This stationary bike is great, the display panel is big and easy to read, resets with the touch of a button after you're done. It's so quiet you don't even know you're pedaling. It's sturdy, I've had it outside (in florida) for a year and works perfectly. The only thing they could improve on is making the seat a little more comfortable. But overall, I can't believe how great it is for the price.

The low price and small size should have been an indication it would be worthless, but I was still surprised that it was so poorly designed, so unstable, so uncomfortable that it was impossible to use.

Comments about Phoenix Phoenix Upright Magnetic Bike:

The LED display began to experience difficulty within the first two months. The numbers started to disappear for whatever reason. Then the seat ripped. The bike is one year old and looks ten years old. I called the service rep and explained the problems but he wanted to charge me an outrageous fortune to fix them. In all honesty, I'd skip this bike and go for a better one.

Comments about Phoenix Phoenix Upright Magnetic Bike:

My only complaint is about the seat, which is hard, broad, and flat. I'd prefer something more like a regular bicycle saddle that is narrow, allowing a person to straddle it, resting his weight on both insides of the pelvic arch, rather than perching on a platform that is so broad that it interferes with free hip/femur movement.

Comments about Phoenix Phoenix Upright Magnetic Bike:

Now that I've had the bike for a month, I do like it, although I don't use it nearly as often as I should. But, when I do get on it, the motion is smooth and it is very quiet, although the seat could be a lot more comfortable, and I always feel like I'm falling forward and keep having to adjust my position.

Comments about Phoenix Phoenix Upright Magnetic Bike:

Buy this bike! I ride it 5 days a week, and it more than serves the purpose. Coming from a recumbant, it does take a little getting use too. Don't believe any of the reviews saying it's hard to setup; it's very easy. Runs very smooth and quiet. The seat could stand a little more padding, and the heart rate monitor could be better, but other than those two things, it's a dream to ride.

I like this bike, it's not the best I've ever owned, but it is a good deal, good price and smooth running so far. No problems with it, the assembly was fairly easy. Like all exercise bikes the seat is not that comfortable. Over all opinion is that it's worth the price for a beginner. Very quiet also.

Comments about Phoenix Phoenix Upright Magnetic Bike:

This is a great bike- nothing fancy- but does the job. It is very stable for anyone of larger size- if thats a concern- heavy enough- it does not tip at all.But at the same time, the bike is not too heavy to move about to another room etc. The big plus is that it has smooth pedal action and is quiet. But, my big gripe is that I was excited to be able to check my heart beats per minute- on the handle- but- the heart rate checker is SO SLOW I never have the time to wait for it to get up to my heart rate. So this feature is a worthless. I had to buy a watch I that tells me my heart rate in seconds- where if I waited for the bike monitor on the bike handle I would wait 4 minutes or more before my heart rate is shown. Also- another con is that this bike is a bit of work to put together. I had my husband with an masters in engineering put it together for me and it took him a good 45 minutes. Of course he does everything perfectly- so he may take a bit longer than the average Joe- still- just know there will be alot of loose nuts and bolts to attend to before this bike can be ridden.

It was very difficult to get the tension line attached and the seat makes me feel like I'm falling forward the whole time I'm riding, so I'm going to have to figure out if there is a way to adjust it. Plus, the seat is quite small (and I'm not that large) and the padding is hard, absolutely not what I was expecting. The instructions were very difficult to figure out, and the diagrams were really hard to see.

Comments about Phoenix Phoenix Upright Magnetic Bike:

Because this bike makes no sound whatsoever it encourages the whole family to use it because it doesn't wake up the whole house or drown out the tv like our treadmill does. The seat isn't that comfortable but is tolerable for about 30-45min before you have to get off due to a lack of feeling in your rear. It's small enough to fit anywhere in the house and is easy to set the different modes.

Comments about Phoenix Phoenix Upright Magnetic Bike:

For the price, you can't beat this bike. The only real cons I found was the seat is a bit hard on the backside, and the heart rate monitor is NOT accurate. It is as quiet as they claim, and very, very smooth. I previously had a recumbant bike (wife's idea) for 3 years. Prior to my recumbant, I had an upright, and I'm glad to have an upright again. It did take a little getting used too again, but this bike performs as advertised. I just hope that Phoenix fixes the heart rate monitor. Other reviewers mentioned trouble assembling the bike...FALSE! It was a snap; don't let them stop you from buying this.

Comments about Phoenix Phoenix Upright Magnetic Bike:

This is a good basic bike, particularly for the money. I lost 100 pounds over the last year through diet and an exercise program that included using another stationary bike. I bought the Phoenix bike when the other one fell apart, on the theory that the Phoenix would be good enough for my health- and weight-loss maintenance program.

It fits the bill, with some reservations.

I like the simplicity -- fewer things to break. I like being able to manually adjust the tension, too. I am able to get a good cardio workout, which I monitor using a separate Polar heart monitor.

But the bike (mostly the seat) it is not all that comfortable. It also took three people to set it up, and getting the tension cable connected was very difficult.

My biggest complaint is that the console has never worked, in spite of changing the batteries several times and disconnecting/reconnecting the cable. While I am able to track my progress using my heart monitor, I hate not being able to track my mileage.

Phoenix has not answered my emails and their 888 customer service number just rings and rings.

Comments about Phoenix Phoenix Upright Magnetic Bike:

For the price, a very good bike. Simple but robust design with few moving parts to break (except for problem noted below.) I seem to be getting good workouts on it.

However, it took two of us to put it together, mostly getting the tension cable connected properly -- very, very difficult.

The console doesn't work, in spite of swapping out the batteries several times and disconnecting/reconnecting the tension cable.

I purchased this bike when another bike, an $900 Tunturi (which I also purchased through Mercantila), crapped out after four months of moderately heavy use by a 150-pound woman. I am waiting for the distributor to do an on-site warranty repair.

I have spent hours trying to get these two new bikes working as promised.

I have to admit that I am losing confidence in the Exercise Bike Superstore given these back-to-back problems. The people are nice and responsive, but two product-quality problems in a row is maddening.

Comments about Phoenix Phoenix Upright Magnetic Bike:

This bike is not bad at all for the money. I use it 3 days a week for interval training and 40 min rides. I weigh 200 lbs and i'm 6 feet tall with long legs. I wish the seat went higher but its just enough to get half decent extension. Overall i would grade this bike above average. I can see this bike lasting 2-3 years with medium to high usage. B+.......

I thought the seat and handle bar design did not allow enough room for a tall person and I was not happy that you could not lower the traction to zero for beginners. I had to cut the traction belt on the one I purchased, so now I have no traction at all.

We really like the bike and are getting more use out of it every week. The only CON is the seat seems harder than expected, but it is not a big detriment. Comments about Phoenix Phoenix Upright Magnetic Bike:

I liked the price - have definitely gotten my money's worth. I had an upcoming ACL reconstruction, so wanted to strengthen before going into surgery, then especially needed it for post-op rehab. For the price, it is all I needed and wanted.I have two comments/constructive criticisms: I could not determine from the website how high the seat went - I am 5' 10" and have long legs - the seat barely goes high enough for my legs to extend properly. I can just barely use it on the highest setting, and would prefer to have the seat higher. The other comment has to do with the resistance levels. Other bikes I have used have a tightening wheel that doesn't have specific settings - you just keep cranking the knob clockwise and resistence gets harder and harder. I find that there is little difference between the settings and that on the highest/hardest setting, I am still wanting more.Despite these two issues, I can use the bike quite efficiently and have found it to be a wonderful rehab tool.[...]

The belt broke so soon three days of use.
I ordered the belt and fixed it. Looks like
the belt wasn't installed correctly or bolts
holding the flywheel wasn't tightened enough
causing the belt slipped off track. I, a first
time owner, just keep bicycling until there was
no more tension on the flywheel. Belt was caught
between the bolts. Assemblers should pay
attention when assembling these items.

Comments about Phoenix Phoenix Upright Magnetic Bike:

The biggest problem with bikes like this is that ergonomics where hand and arm is concerned are just not thought about. The handlebars are shaped incorrectly and as with most of the upright bikes, aren't adjustable high enough for the average (5'4") woman who may have a less than perfect back.

The thing is pretty unbalanced (extremely lightweight in the rear but extremely heavy in front - silly and unnecessary. Design of that could easily be improved - spread the load of weight more evenly.
